This has been a very special year of transition and new initiatives. My core mission continues to be ending cancer. Serving six years as president at MD Anderson is one of the great honors of my life. I remain at MD Anderson pursuing science in my lab, helping patients and serving the institution. I am also very excited to return to my entrepreneurial roots where I am launching new biotech companies developing critical drugs for patients in need. I continue to engage legislators to advocate for increased research funding through my activities at ACTForNIH as well as the enactment of policies to help prevent cancer particularly in tobacco and HPV. And finally, I am helping to build a global collaboration framework to better coordinate efforts across the many diverse stakeholders in the cancer community (government, industry, academia) to accelerate progress in the prevention and treatment of cancer.
