Telomeres in Cancer & Aging
Our laboratory has elucidated how telomere dysfunction drives cancer genome instability and cancer development in the aged and underlies premature aging syndromes, acquired degenerative diseases such as liver cirrhosis, and inflammatory diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease. Our work showed that aging can be reversed and defined a core molecular pathway of aging, illuminating how genotoxic stress, ROS and mitochondrial dysfunction are linked to drive the aging process.
